The Garage Gym Athlete App Is Live: Our Favorite Features
The short answer
The Garage Gym Athlete app is officially live in the Apple and Android app stores, and the features we care about most are the ones that track your training over decades and put the community in the same place you train. Episode 363 walks through what we built, why we built it, and how to get started.
We are live. Search Garage Gym Athlete in the App Store or Google Play and it is there. This episode is the one where we finally get to talk about the app as a finished thing instead of a project, and it starts with a thank you.
Thank You to the Beta Community
About 100 athletes left Train Heroic before they had to. They moved to a beta app, lived with the rough edges, and sent feedback. A lot of feedback. That feedback is the reason a nine month build turned into a fast one. You cannot buy that kind of testing, and we are grateful for every bug report and every "this would be better if."
Then came Fit Week, the first one run entirely inside the app. PRs went up. Garage setups got shared. The community was humming again in a way that reminded us of the early Facebook group days. That was the moment it felt real.
Tracking That Shows You Where You Are Weak
Tracking was the first thing we wanted to get right. The Fit Week graph and athlete score show where your imbalances are, so you are not guessing about what to work on next. Strong but slow? Fast but fragile? The graph tells you.
Underneath that is daily over decades tracking: sessions, minutes, volume, and mileage, all logged and all adding up. On the episode we each walk through how we check off the EO3 elements inside the app, which is a small daily habit that keeps the method honest. Run pacing and intensity data is coming next.
Selection Saturday
Meet Yourself Saturday is now Selection Saturday. Instead of one assigned workout, you get a choice:
- Any Meet Yourself workout
- The Pump hypertrophy session
- Go Long
Pick the one that fits the day you are having. Jerred walks through the thinking behind it on the episode, and the short version is that Saturdays are where athletes most want some say in what they do, so we gave it to them.
The Biggest Train Heroic Hangover
This one comes up constantly, so let us clear it up. You do not need to move days around. If Monday's workout is not the one you want to do today, just do the one you want. The log keeps track of what you did and when. There is no calendar to rearrange and no penalty for doing workouts out of order. Train the day you have, not the day the app says it is.
Community in One Spot
For the first time, training and community live in the same place. Crew is where that happens. No separate group, no separate app, no digging through a feed to find the people you train with.
Roll Call shows who is training live right now, so you can cheer each other on. Every cheer from us is real. We are in there, we see you training, and we are tapping the button ourselves.
A few more things from the back half of the episode:
- The leaderboard only tracks elements and sessions, not max lifts. Consistency is the thing we want you competing on.
- PR shirts are back.
- Track badges are a maybe. We are listening.
- We use the app ourselves every single day. That was the bar: build something we would actually train with.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Garage Gym Athlete app available on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It is live in both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Search Garage Gym Athlete in either store, or start your trial at garagegymathlete.com for the best pricing.
Do I have to do the workouts in order?
No. Do the workout you want on the day you have. The log records what you did and when, so there is nothing to rearrange.
What does the leaderboard track?
Elements and sessions, not max lifts. It is a leaderboard for consistency, which is the thing that actually moves you forward over years.
Train like an athlete. For life.
Programming built this way: hard when it counts, sustainable the rest of the time.
