Android: The Keyboard Stays Out of Your Way
If you train on Android, the keyboard has been covering the field you were typing in: a weight or reps cell partway down a session, the comment box on a Crew post, the message box in a DM. That is fixed. Tap a cell and the screen scrolls it up above the keyboard; a comment or message box sits just above the keyboard instead of under it. Nothing changes on iPhone or on the web. On your phone the fix arrives after two fresh launches of the app. Thank you to the athletes who kept reporting it until we found the real cause.
Later the same morning, two more from the first athlete to test it: a field you tap again after hiding the keyboard now rises above it just like the first tap, and in DMs the message you are replying to stays in view when the keyboard is open. That last one is on iPhone too.

Fixes From Your Notes: Workout Time, Last Lifts, and the Log
A round of fixes that started as notes from athletes, all live now. The workout time editor has an hours field, so a 90 minute session no longer has to squeeze into minutes, and it opens with the time you actually logged. The "Last:" line under a movement follows the movement you swapped in, not the one you swapped out, and jump movements show your best height. If you edit a workout you already shared, the shared card shows the edited numbers. The session brief video no longer takes the whole session down when the file fails to load; you get a retry instead.
On the Log, a day turns green only when you trained. Journal-only days, marked rest days, and Elements-only days get a hollow ring, and the legend says so. Timed recovery still counts as training. Your Daily Over Decades card now says when your count started, and Sessions on your profile count training days, so two logs on one day count once. Metric athletes see jump heights in centimetres in the session and in History. The Profile ring and the Daily Over Decades counter refresh the moment a workout is saved.
Two quieter ones. Reopening a session while offline restores your local work right away instead of showing a blank session first. And if a session you are logging gets deleted from another device, the app now recovers on its own: your next save creates a fresh log with everything you had typed, no re-entering the screen. On your phone these arrive after two fresh launches of the app.

Your Numbers Stay Put While You Type
An update earlier today had a bug: anything you typed into a set you had not checked off yet, or a note on a movement with no checked sets, cleared itself about a second after you stopped typing. That is fixed. Type first or check first, either order sticks now. The same bug had the app quietly re-saving your workout every second or so in the background, which is gone too, so your battery gets a break. On your phone the fix arrives after two fresh launches of the app. Thank you to the athletes who flagged it within hours.

Terms and Privacy Inside the App, and Links That Tell You When They Fail
The Terms of Use and Privacy Policy now open right inside the app, under Settings and from the sign up and log in screens, with no browser needed. The Read on garagegymathlete.com button is still there if you want the web version. Any link that leaves the app now tells you if your phone refused to open it and shows you the address, instead of doing nothing. And if a store purchase is still confirming after a minute, the paywall now says so and points you to Restore Purchases or support, so you are never left staring at a spinner. We also fixed the sign up screen, where the Terms and Privacy links could ignore your tap on iPhone.
Updated 1 September 2026
Notification Taps Land Where They Should, and Photo Posts Are Back
Tapping a push notification now opens the right screen even when the app was fully closed. Before, a cold start would just drop you on the home screen. And if a photo post to the crew feed failed for you earlier today, that is fixed: post away, no update needed.
Updated 1 September 2026
Blocking That Actually Blocks, and Report Anything
Blocking another athlete now removes them from your world completely: their posts, comments, likes, notifications, and live cheers all stop flowing both directions, and old notifications from them disappear too. You can also report anything you see now, including profiles and profile photos, straight from the profile screen. Every report goes to a human on our team, and we act within 24 hours. We also brightened some of the dimmest text in checkout and the session screen and improved screen reader support for logging sets, so the app works better for everyone.

Workout Saves You Can Trust on Garage Wi-Fi
If your connection hiccupped right as you tapped Finish, the app could occasionally save that workout twice when it retried. Fixed for good: every save now carries its own claim ticket, so a retry finds the workout it already saved instead of writing a second copy. Max test results now record only after the workout save actually lands, so a failed save can never skew your future prescriptions. And if a save ever does fail, the app tells us immediately so we can get ahead of it. More reliable saving, nothing new to learn.

One Tap to Verify Your Email
Signing up works exactly like before: create your account and you are training immediately, no codes, no waiting. New today, we send one email with a single button so we know your inbox is really yours. Tap it once and you are done. If you have not verified yet, a small reminder sits at the top of the Train tab with a resend button, and it gets out of your way the moment you tap the link. Nothing is locked either way. Behind the scenes this also tightened up account security for everyone, including accounts that sign in with Apple or Google.
Updated 31 August 2026
Ruck It, Walk It, and Warmups That Do the Math
Two more from your notes, live right now with no update needed. First: Ruck and Walk are in the movement library as conditioning options. Tap Swap on any run, row, or bike and ruck instead; add your ruck weight with the Load field so it goes in the books, and log your distance like always. No pack? Walk is there too. Second, for our Hard to Kill athletes: the barbell warmup ramps now do the percentage math for you. Where the warmup used to say "5 at 40%, 3 at 55%, 2 at 70%" and leave the calculator work to you, it now shows each ramp set with the weight already filled in from your max, just like the working sets. Same for the ramp sets attached to the main lifts on Hard to Kill and ENDURE: they show up as real sets with computed weights now, not a note.

Three Small Fixes From Your Notes
A second batch today, all from athlete reports. Edit workout time now opens with the current time selected, so whatever you type replaces it. Before, your new time piled onto the old one and the save button just sat there dimmed. If you swap a movement mid-workout, say sprints in for a run on Go Long, your log and calendar now show the movement you actually did instead of the one on paper. And for our Android and mobile web athletes: the sign-in and sign-up screens now slide up out of the way of the keyboard, the last screens that didn't. Reopen the app twice and you have all three.
Updated 31 August 2026
Circuit Rounds That Add Up
Two of you caught the same bug within a day of each other on Build Yourself Saturday sessions: the instructions said four quality rounds, a movement card said five sets, and the progress bar refused to reach 100% no matter what you did. Fixed at the root. Circuit and EMOM blocks now count the rounds you can actually tap, so finishing the listed rounds finishes the session. Add an extra round for bonus volume and it counts too, and every round you log is saved, including the extra ones. We also cleaned up the handful of sessions where the written sets disagreed with the round count. Reopen the app twice and you have it; the web app already does.
Updated 25 August 2026
Help and the Fine Print, One Tap Away
A quick housekeeping update as we get the app ready for its public App Store and Google Play launch. Account & Settings now has a Support & legal section: tap Contact & Support to reach a real human (usually within one business day), or read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use without leaving your phone. Both documents got a full rewrite so they describe the app you actually use: what we collect, what we never touch (your Apple Health data, for one: we write your workouts there and never read anything), and exactly how billing and cancellation work. The account deletion page now spells out precisely what happens when you delete, including what to do if you joined on our original site. Nothing changes about your training. It is all there when you need it.
Updated 18 August 2026
What's New in the Garage Gym Athlete App
A double update, all pulled from the athlete feedback board: new features up top, then a bug-hunting sweep where we traced every reported issue to the root. Everything arrives automatically: reopen the app twice and you have it. The web app already does.
See Who Liked It
Tap the number next to any heart, on a post or a comment, and a list slides up: every athlete who liked it, with their photo. Tap a name to visit their profile. Cheering each other on just got a little more personal.
Count Your Rounds in Countdown
Running an AMRAP against the clock? The countdown timer now has a built-in rounds counter. Hit plus each time you finish a round (or use it for reps, your call), and the tally stays on screen when the timer hits zero so you can log your score before you reset.
Two Feeds in One
The Crew feed now splits into Workout updates and Community. Finished sessions, rest day logs, and challenge progress live under one tab; questions, wins, and conversation under the other. Flip between them with the toggle at the top. Workout shares got a glow-up too: they now post as a proper summary card with your time and volume, with your note up top. And when you share from a workout, the feed lands on Workout updates so you see your post right where it lives.
Calories and a Weigh-In on Rest Days
Active recovery on the rower or a long ruck? Log calories on a rest day right next to distance and volume. They show on your calendar, in Share to Crew, and in a new Calories stat on your Me page that also counts the machine calories you log in workouts. There is a Weight field on rest days now too: your weigh-in saves to that day and keeps your profile weight current, which is what your Standards scoring runs on.
Add a Vest to Bodyweight Movements
Wearing a vest or a belt for push-ups, pull-ups, dips, burpees, or air squats? Thirty bodyweight movements now take an optional load, so the extra weight you carry finally counts in your volume. Jumping and banded movements stay as they are on purpose.
You Will Actually Hear Your Timer Now
The big one. On Android, watching any video (a brief, a demo, a Meet Yourself Saturday walkthrough) could silently kill every timer sound until you restarted the app. That is why your phone only buzzed. Found it, fixed it. While we were in there: the beeps are mastered noticeably louder, music ducking no longer fades them into nothing over a long workout, and background beeps now come through a proper high-priority channel when the app is in your pocket. If your timer has felt mute, this update is for you.
The Keyboard Finally Behaves
On iPhone and Android both: weight and rep fields pull themselves above the keyboard when you tap them (and stay visible as you hop field to field), direct messages no longer hide the conversation or the message box behind the keyboard, and commenting on a photo post no longer means typing blind. Number pads also get a Done bar in every popup that was missing one, so no more stuck keyboards.
Logging, Sharpened
- Swaps tell the truth. Swap a bodyweight movement for a loaded one (Superman out, Reverse Hyper in) and the weight field is right there, no hunting.
- Tap, type, done. Weight and rep fields now select their value when you tap them, same as the timer. Type and it replaces.
- Timers stay open. Tapping a countdown preset used to start the clock and immediately close it, and you would reopen it just to watch. Now every timer stays on screen until you close it with the X.
- Walk is a rest-day option. The activity chips always promised it; now it exists. Log your walk with time and distance.
- Recovery volume, visible. Active recovery cards on your Log show the volume you moved right on the card, no tap required.
- Video player fixes. Controls no longer hide behind the Android navigation bar, videos no longer go silent mid-play after a buffer, and speeding up a brief no longer doubles the audio.
Apple Health, Finished Properly
Save workouts to Apple Health was only catching training sessions. Now your clocked rest-day and active recovery work syncs too, labeled honestly: a walk shows up as a walk, a ruck as a hike, a row as a row. Correcting a workout time afterward also syncs it, so a session you forgot to clock still makes it into your rings once you fix the time. One note: if you run an Apple Watch workout and save from the app, Apple shows both sources. That is Apple counting two writers, not double-counting by us; pick one source per workout and it is clean.
Every fix and feature above started as a note from an athlete: Victor, Mark, Shane, Leif, Thomas, Jonathan, Tim, Graham, Tyler, Patrick, Kelly, Lewis, Matt, Eric. The feedback form in the app goes straight to the board we build from. Keep them coming.
Updated 5 August 2026
What's New in the Garage Gym Athlete App
Big three weeks. The app went public, a referral program launched, and two full waves of athlete feedback shipped, including six feature requests that went from your notes to live in the app today. Everything below arrives automatically. Just reopen the app.
The Web App Is Public
No more invite lists: the full app now lives at app.garagegymathlete.com in any browser, and you can sign in with Google or Apple. Same account, same training, every screen you own. The iPhone and Android apps stay in beta a little longer while we finish the App Store launch, so if you are on TestFlight, nothing changes for you.
Refer a Friend, Earn Merch
Your Me page now has a personal referral link. Share it, and when a friend becomes a paid member you earn a $25 merch credit, tracked in a new Rewards wallet. Spend it at the new garagegymathlete.com/shop: shirts, hats, the good stuff. Training partners make you more dangerous anyway. Go recruit one.
The Whiteboard View
Tap the list icon at the top of any session and the whole day appears as one clean, plain-text whiteboard: every block, every movement, every prescription, no scrolling through cards. Exactly what a coach would scrawl on the gym wall. Screenshot it, send it to a buddy, or prop your phone on the rack and go.
Timers, Round Three
- "Get ready" your way. The lead-in before a timer starts is now adjustable: off, 5, 10, or 15 seconds. And countdowns finally get it too, including the one-tap presets. Tap 0:30 and you have time to get back on the bar before it runs.
- Chimes cut through your music. Timer cues now duck whatever you are playing, and a bug that silently dropped every other beep is fixed. You will hear the 3-2-1 even with the garage speakers cranked.
- Timers survive anything. Every timer already kept running while you logged sets (collapse it to the little pill up top). Now it also survives your phone killing the app in your pocket mid-tabata. Reopen and it is exactly where it should be, right round, right second.
Log It the Way You Trained It
- Add a set. A "+ Set" button on every movement, so ramp-up and warm-up sets finally have a home. Circuits and supersets get "+ Round" for bonus trips through the list. All of it counts toward your volume.
- Your maxes fill themselves in. The Maxes page now spots the heaviest weight you have actually logged and offers it with one tap: "You logged 365 on Jul 12. Use." No more retyping numbers the app already watched you lift.
- Active recovery, fully editable. Recovery sessions on your Log now get the same controls as workouts: change the date, correct the time, or delete one, without touching that day's Elements or journal.
- Fix any log. Delete a duplicate workout, hand-correct a missing duration, or discard an abandoned in-progress session. Your history, your call.
Fixes You Asked For
- The keyboard stays out of your way. Android typing no longer hides behind the keyboard, and the cut-off digits in weight and rep fields are fixed.
- Long times type clean. Manual durations now take hours: type 11500 and it reads 1:15:00.
- Web app polish. Demo videos autoplay properly in the browser, and your screen stays awake through a whole timed workout instead of sleeping mid-interval.
- Benchmark dates behave. Meet Yourself Saturday logs stay on the day you did them, and you can move one if you logged it late.
- Session screens got a contrast bump for readability in a bright garage, and failed saves now tell you loudly instead of dying silently.
- Returning athletes unlock instantly. If you were a member in the old system, signing up with the same email now recognizes you automatically.
More coming: push notifications land with the next App Store build, and more demo and brief videos ship every week. Keep the feedback coming through the form in the app. All six features that shipped today started as notes from six of you.

What's New in the Garage Gym Athlete App
Two weeks ago we told you demo videos and Athlete Briefs were "on the roadmap." They're here, along with a lot more. Here is everything that has shipped since the last update. Most of it arrives automatically; a couple of items need the newest TestFlight build.
Share Your Workout
Finish a session and tap Share workout. You get a stat card with your time, volume, and sets, ready to post to the Crew with your own note on top. On the newest TestFlight build you can also fire it straight to Instagram Stories. Show people what training in a garage actually looks like.
The Daily Over Decades Challenge
A new challenge lives on your Me page. Commit to it, watch your progress ring fill as you train, and share your challenge card to the Crew when you finish. Fall off? Restart with a clean slate any time.
Session Pages, Rebuilt
Every session page got a full redesign: a photo up top, cleaner workout cards, and sharper typography throughout.
- Athlete Briefs. New sessions now open with a short brief from the coach: what the day is about, what to push, what to watch. Many include a brief video, starting with this deload week and the new wave.
- Exercise demo videos. Over 100 movements now have a silent demo video with three form cues right in the app. Tap the movement, watch the standard, go. More are being filmed every week.
Hard to Kill: Pick Your Version
Starting with the new wave (week 5), Hard to Kill athletes get a toggle right on the session: Main, Minimal Kit, or Minimal Time. Same training intent, three ways to hit it depending on your gear and your day. The app remembers your last choice, and any version you complete counts as the day done.
New Weeks Drop Saturday
New training weeks now unlock Saturday at 3pm Central instead of Sunday. Our international athletes kept waking up ahead of the drop. Problem solved.
Deload Week, Built In
Deload weeks are now programmed into the calendar like any other week, with their own sessions and briefs. You just trained through the first one. Back off on purpose so you can push for the next 12 weeks.
Timer Upgrades, Round Two
- Box Breathing mode. A guided box-breathing timer with a gentle breath cue. Use it post-workout or any time your day needs it.
- 3-2-1 lead-in. The timer now ticks you in before every interval starts and ends, so you are on the bar when the window opens, not looking at your phone.
Recovery Days Count Now
Active recovery with the clock running now counts toward your lifetime sessions and minutes, shows up on the leaderboard, and puts you on the live Training Now roster like any other session. There is also a new volume field for logging any extra work you did. One change for honesty: recovery time now comes from the clock only, no typing in minutes.
Crew Upgrades, Round Two
- GIFs in comments. The comment box has a GIF button. Use it responsibly. Or don't.
- Cheers land in your bell. Get cheered mid-workout and it now shows in your notifications, so you never miss it.
- Tap any photo to go fullscreen with pinch-to-zoom, and photo uploads got a bigger size limit. Also fixed the bug where some photos showed as black boxes on desktop.
- Lifetime rings on profiles. Tap any athlete and see their all-time sessions, minutes, and Elements.
Train Page Polish
- Session cards now carry photos, focus tags, and an estimated time, set by the coaches for each day.
- Restart a program any time from a link at the bottom of the Train page. Finish every session and it flips to "Program complete, restart from Session 1."
New: Account & Settings
The bottom of your Me page collapsed into one Account & Settingscard: membership, pounds/kilograms, your Training Now visibility, and a new coach note review toggle if you would rather keep your session notes out of coach review. The Manage membership button now works on iPhone too.
Smaller Fixes You Asked For
- Time entry auto-formats. Type 930 and it becomes 9:30, on a big number pad. No more hunting for the colon with shaky post-workout hands.
- Profile photo uploads are fixed and avatars load noticeably faster everywhere.
- The Train page date strip now always matches the real training week.
- Leaderboards load faster.
- A fresh app icon on the newest TestFlight build. Look for the script logo.
More coming: push notifications, programmed warm-ups across all tracks, more demo and brief videos every week, and the full App Store launch. Keep the feedback coming. Almost everything above started as a note from one of you.
5 July 2026
What's New in the Garage Gym Athlete App
You asked, we built. Here is everything that has shipped over the last couple of weeks, including a big batch straight from your Iteration 1 feedback. Update your app to grab it all.
New: Faster Logging
- Apply to all sets. Enter your weight and reps once, tap "Set 1 → all", and every set fills in. Perfect for EMOMs and high-set days.
- One-tap complete. "All done" marks every set of a movement finished. Circuits and EMOMs get an "All" button that checks off every round at once.
- Log in kilograms. New Units setting on your Me page. Flip it to kg and every weight in the app (sets, maxes, volume, history) shows and saves in kilograms. Pounds stay the default.
New: Skip a Session
Life happens. If you miss a day, you no longer get pulled back to it forever. Open any session you are not going to do and tap "Skip this session" at the bottom. Up Next moves on to your real next workout, and the skipped day shows a "Do it anyway" button in case you change your mind. Skipped sessions never count toward your stats or the leaderboards, so everything stays honest.
Timer Upgrades
- Full timer, five modes. Countdown, Stopwatch, Intervals, Tabata, and EMOM, all from the timer button in the top right. It keeps running wherever you go in the app.
- Beeps with your ringer off. Gym phones live on silent. The timer chimes now play anyway.
- Halfway alert. Countdowns of a minute or more give you a single cue at the halfway point.
- Bigger button. The timer is easier to hit mid-workout, even with shaky hands.
- Screen stays awake. Fixed a bug where your screen could go dark mid-workout after using the timer. This was also knocking people off the live "Training Now" roster, so that is fixed too.
Calendar Is Now "Log"
Same tab, clearer name. The Log is the record of everything you have done, day by day. The Train tab is where your next workout lives. Skipped days show in gray, finished days in green.
Your Workout History Is Protected
Once you finish a workout, it becomes a record. If you go back and change anything on a finished workout, you will now see a warning at the top of the screen reminding you to tap Update to save the change. No more edits silently disappearing.
New Me Page
Your Me page got a full redesign: a bigger profile with your photo, track, and a new bio you can write, plus a Lifetime block showing your all-time sessions, minutes, Elements, volume, and distance. The 8-week training charts now show the numbers above each bar.
New Train Page
Your training week is now a swipeable deck of session cards with a Mon through Sun day strip up top. Status at a glance: green check for done, yellow for up next, and now gray for skipped.
Rest Days and Meet Yourself Saturday, Upgraded
- Rest days are now Rest / Active Recovery: start a clock, log your Zone 2 run or extra work, journal it, and share it to the Crew.
- Meet Yourself Saturday works like a real session now: begin, pause, finish, share your result.
- Journal everywhere. Every training day (sessions, rest days, benchmarks) has a journal box, and it all syncs to your Log.
Crew Upgrades
- Direct messages. Tap "Send message" on any athlete's profile, or the inbox icon in the Crew header.
- Photos on posts. Share the garage gym, the whiteboard, the sweat angels.
- Like comments and edit your own posts and comments.
Smaller Fixes You Asked For
- Weights that are a percentage of your 1RM auto-fill once your maxes are entered. If they can't fill in, the app now tells you exactly where to add your maxes (and you can dismiss that hint once you have seen it).
- Changing your profile photo now tells you if the app needs photo permission, with a shortcut to Settings.
- If a max lift fails to save (spotty gym wifi), you get an alert instead of silence.
- Fixed a bug where the workout screen could go blank after scrolling mid-session.
More coming: programmed warm-ups across all tracks, exercise demo videos, and Athlete Briefs are all on the roadmap. Keep the feedback coming. It is working.
